Course information

This webinar provides a practical introduction to alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in construction and procurement projects worldwide, including the UK and the Middle East. UK-based construction dispute resolution practitioners will cover the fundamentals of adjudication and other ADR mechanisms, including mediation, conciliation, adjudication, and arbitration.

The session will focus on how and when these processes are used. The seminar will also examine the most common causes of disputes in the UK and ME and the steps that can be taken to mitigate them, using case scenarios. The seminar would further address the influence of UK common law principles on construction in MEA and KSA.

Speakers

William Brown

William Brown is the Director of Fortfield & Brown Limited and is a dual-qualified solicitor and civil engineer, as well as a solicitor advocate. He leverages his technical and legal expertise to help clients resolve construction and procurement issues efficiently and with commercial awareness. He serves as an adjudicator on the ICE and RICS panels and has extensive experience representing parties in adjudication, mediation, and arbitration and in public procurement matters.

Nouman Qadir

Nouman Qadir is a qualified civil engineer, chartered construction manager (MCIOB), and certified project manager who applies his expertise to help clients resolve construction and procurement disputes. He is an Associate at Fortfield & Brown Limited, teaches Construction Law at Queen’s University Belfast, is the Treasurer of Construction Industry Council NI, and a committee member of CIOB NI.
