The objective of TOD essentially, is to increase the use of public transport and reduce the use of private cars, thus promoting sustainable urban growth.
TOD as a concept, first appeared in the late 1980s and has increasingly gained momentum, seeing numerous cities and regions across the globe implementing the concept into their urban development plans.
