Ian Brindle is co-owner of Better Prepared Ltd, a firm of Chartered Surveyors, practicing in the East Midlands and East Anglia. He now practices survey & valuation day to day in Suffolk and Essex. Prior to this he spent around 14 years as Compliance & Risk Director for Valunation and Wolton Chartered Surveyors.
Ian has an interest in the development of valuation standards and best practice for survey and valuation.
He has sat on various working parties of the RICS, contributed to the development of standards and co-authored various guidance etc. This has included co-authoring the first edition of the valuation of individual “new build” homes and acting as technical author on a draft of the 3rd edition Mundic guidance (soon to be published).
He has sat as joint chair of the External Examination Panel for the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE) for several years and helped develop many of the survey & energy qualifications for that organisation.
Ian acts as an assessor and an internal verifier for several qualifications related to surveying and energy assessment, including the former Home Inspector Diploma and the Domestic Energy Assessor certificate. He is also an assessor for the Assoc RICS membership route.
He has lectured for several organisations including the College of Estate Management, Reading on the subjects of residential property inspection and best practice for the maintenance of site notes, in connection with these qualifications.
