The RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment standard provides the industry with tools to carry out carbon assessments in line with the requirements of the standard which is heavily complex and technical. The standard provides explanation through examples and case studies to enable RICS practitioners to apply the new standard in a practical and ‘in use’ situation.

This webclass acts as an introduction to inform practitioners in why they should implement the requirements of the new WLCA standard, and it is viewed through the lens of UK and infrastructure, retrofit/refurb and maintaining and International. The webclass will be delivered in three parts.

Each class covers the following topics, viewed through the lens of UK, Retro fit or International (click to learn more:)

Web class 1: General UK including Infrastructure

  • Understanding RICS professional standards
  • Why does carbon matter
  • Legislation and futures changes
  • Infrastructure and pre-construction
A1 - A3: Product stage
  • What is embodied carbon
  • When to start a carbon assessment
  • Sources of carbon data in the early stage
  • Carbon data sources and considerations for the design stage
